Indya Moore is a celebrated actor, writer, model, and social activist. Born and raised in the Bronx. Moore currently stars in the groundbreaking, Emmy nominated FX series Pose. The series debuted in June 2018 and was met with wide acclaim. Moore stars as "Angel" a trans woman searching for love and navigating the world of the 1980’s ball scene in New York City, ultimately finding strength in their found family. Vanity Fair describes Indya’s performance: “Moore is terrific at communicating Angel’s wariness and want, craving the intimacy and stability…[Angel’s storyline] is handled with sensitivity and nuance, all of it expertly maneuvered by Moore with rich, subtle emotional clarity.” The series was nominated for six Emmys in 2019, including Outstanding Drama Series. The FX drama also received Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations in the Best Drama Series categories in addition to receiving a TV Program of the Year AFI Award. In 2019 the series took home the GLAAD award for Best Drama Series and a Peabody Award. The series finale aired in June 2021.
On screen, Moore can be seen in Netflix’s A Babysitters Guide to Monster Hunting and will star in Sony’s Escape Room: Tournament of Champions. Moore appeared in the critically acclaimed feature film Saturday Church, which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival and was distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films. The New York Times called the film “A disarmingly and consistently sensitive movie.” Moore has appeared on the cover of such publications as Vogue Spain, Teen Vogue, Another, L’Offciel, and Vogue Italy. Moore has also starred in campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, and Calvin Klein. Moore can be seen in a short film for Saint Lauren alongside Julianne Moore and Chloe Sevigny. Moore was selected by Time Magazine for their List of 100 Most Influential People and also made history as the first trans person to be on the cover of Elle magazine. Additionally, Moore has appeared on The Hollywood Reporter’s Next Gen List as well as Forbes 30 Under 30.
Moore has immersed themself in charitable work, raising and redistributing money for marginalized communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most notably Moore created a fund with donations and personal contributions that were distributed via money transfer apps for Trans people who were affected by the pandemic. Moore was asked by Jane Fonda to appear on her weekly “Fire Drill Fridays” interview series and later interviewed Fonda for her Oct. 2020 cover of Interview Magazine. Their activism caught the eye of designer Tommy Hilfiger who featured Moore in his new 2021 Spring campaign centered around social change. This past holiday season, Moore created the fund entitled Trans Santa alongside Kyle Laskey and Chase Strangio which provided holiday gifts and relief to Trans youth and their families.
