Award-Winning Environmental Activist
Maya Penn is a 22-year-old award-winning environmental activist, multidisciplinary artist, animator, designer, director, sustainability consultant, three-time TEDTalk speaker, and author. Maya founded her sustainable fashion brand Maya’s Ideas at just eight years old. Maya made history when the Obama Administration commissioned her to create the opening animation for the first-ever digital report presented to US Congress, which was to get an American museum of Women’s History built in Washington.
Maya recently directed ASALI: Power of the Pollinators, a short film executive produced by Viola Davis and JuVee Prods. The film is an animated action-packed adventure short film that follows a colorful group of pollinators and an environmental scientist as they unravel a trail of secrets to discover if they can save their home from a monstrous and deadly force. She is also the author of You Got This! Unleash Your Awesomeness, Find Your Path, and Change Your World, is the founder of Maya's Ideas (Sustainable Fashion), and Maya's Ideas 4 The Planet (Non-Profit).
Maya is certified in Circular Economies and Sustainable Business by Cambridge Business School and has consulted a number of Fortune 500 brands. She has been honored with various awards such as White House: Presidential Commendation for Significant Achievement in Environmental Achievement, Top 15 TEDWomen Talks, Oprah's Supersoul 100, Coretta Scott King A.N.G.E.L. Award, Magic Johnson's 32 Under 32, SCLC Drum Major for Justice Awards, Teen Vogue’s 21 Under 21. She has worked with Hulu, Converse, Adobe, L'Oreal, and more.
