    Biography

    Alice Diop is a Senegalese filmmaker based in Paris, France. Alice's work explores the relationship between society and cinema in contemporary France. She earned a master’s in History and a doctorate in Visual Sociology, then studied documentary filmmaking at the prestigious Paris film school Le Fémis. Alice’s work has been shown in festivals to critical acclaim across the world. Her most recent film, Saint Omer, premiered at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and Alice received the Lion of the Future Award, given to the filmmaker with the best narrative debut at the festival.
