Lenard "Charlamagne Tha God" McKelvey is a multimedia mogul, Radio Hall of Fame inductee, and best-selling author. He has spent nearly two decades at the pulse of TV and Radio which has helped him build a media empire across all channels, winning countless awards and shaping the culture we live in today.
In the audio medium, he is the co-host of the morning radio show The Breakfast Club, which drives millions of listeners daily and now airs every morning on BET. Partnering with Audible & Kevin Hart, Charlamagne has pioneered this generation’s introduction to scripted audio. Working with a variety of genres, ranging from comedy to sci-fi to true crime, their projects have won an Audible Webby award and the prestigious duPont award. Additionally, Charlamagne partnered with iHeart Media to create The Black Effect Podcast Network, which holds dozens of popular and fan-favorite podcasts.
He is also the author of The New York Times Best Seller Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes to Those Who Create It and the nationally best-selling book, Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks on Me. His tremendous success and authentic storytelling as an author led to a partnership with Simon & Schuster via his publishing imprint called Black Privilege Publishing which offers incredible up-and-coming Black authors to share their stories.
On television, he is also an executive producer for numerous Emmy-winning television and film projects.
Because of his deep passion for mental health, especially in the Black community, Charlamagne founded the Mental Wealth Alliance, a forward-thinking foundation created to destigmatize, accelerate, and provide trailblazing mental health outreach and care across the U.S. while building an unprecedented long-term system of generational support for Black communities.
