Writer, Podcast Host, and Pop Culture Historian
Deemed "the most valuable hype man in the history of television" by Mike White, "the pop culture chronicler" by GQ, “daddy designator” by The Evening Standard, and "you funny" by Channing Tatum over Instagram DM, Evan is a writer, podcast host, and cultural commentator whose work has been published in dozens of publications, including British Vogue, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Interview Magazine, and Rolling Stone.
Evan began his career as an editor at the men’s fashion magazine Essential Homme and later Mic.com, establishing and building out both sites’ entertainment coverage. He developed and created the hit podcast Shut Up Evan, a long-form interview series with guests, including Nicole Kidman and Ariana Grande, as well as Jennifer Coolidge. Shut Up Evan has grown into a multi-media entertainment platform, for which Evan writes weekly columns for thousands of paid subscribers.
Through his social channels, Evan has accrued more than half a million followers, and his memes of television series, films, and pop culture moments have led to partnerships with HBO, Showtime, Netflix, Hulu, Starz, Apple TV+, FX, Sony Pictures, and more.
He is a contributor at New York Magazine's The Cut, author of the book Into Every Generation A Slayer Is Born: How ‘Buffy’ Staked Our Hearts, and creator and co-host of the Survivor-themed podcast Drop Your Buffs. He is a brand ambassador for the fashion label Loewe and partnered with Meta to program and develop its annual “Chaos Dinner” series.
Evan was named one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business, and one of the “50 Reasons We (Still) Love Hollywood” by the Hollywood Reporter earlier this year.
