Menzel recently completed filming Sony’s feminist update of the classic Cinderella, opposite Camila Cabello. Directed by Kay Cannon, this modern retelling focuses on the women of the kingdom breaking free of their predetermined paths to find their true spirit, all with fantastic recognizable songs and a showstopping number written and performed by Menzel. Menzel will next shoot the highly anticipated Enchanted sequel for Disney +, Disenchanted, in which she will reprise her role as ‘Nancy’ alongside Amy Adams and James Marsden. Menzel is writing a children’s book with her sister, Cara, that will be published by Disney. Additionally, Menzel and her partners at IDeal are finishing a documentary following Menzel on the road to Madison Square Garden

Menzel concluded 2019 with a one-two punch: Frozen 2, the follow-up to the immensely successful original, brought Menzel’s Elsa to new territories and even greater box office success. In the Safdie Brothers’ A24 film Uncut Gems, Menzel plays Adam Sandler’s beleaguered wife with sass and humor, joining Eric Bogosian, Lakeith Stanfield, and Kevin Garnett in the stellar ensemble. She additionally released her second compilation of holiday songs, Christmas: A Season of Love, arranged and produced by Ron Fair. In the fall she concluded the west coast run of Joshua Harmon’s SKINTIGHT, a follow up to the off-Broadway production in which Menzel originated the starring role of Jodi, opening to rave reviews at the Roundabout Theatre.

Menzel believes in the responsibility she has to fans far and wide. She starred on Broadway in the original production IF/THEN, for which she earned her third Tony nomination, and like the stars of old Broadway, she and several cast members went on a  nationwide tour. In London, after winning the Tony she premiered the Broadway hit WICKED in the West End and received the Theatregoers Choice Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Additionally, the album received rave reviews, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Holiday Albums chart, and gave Menzel a Top 10 album on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. Menzel has received the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at Billboard’s annual Women in Music event and recently completed a worldwide tour that included Asia, the UK, and North America.

Menzel is consistently lauded for her strong yet emotional live performances. The concert also aired nationally on PBS stations. Her highly successful international concert tour has also included sold-out performances at Radio City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall.

Philanthropy is also important to Menzel, who co-founded the A BroaderWay Foundation in 2010. The organization is dedicated to offering girls the opportunity to amplify their voices using the arts.
