Pro Bowl Quarterback, Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen is the starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. Allen was the seventh selection in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.
Despite an outstanding High School Career, Allen didn't receive a single offer from a Division I program. Allen played one year of junior college football at Reedley College where he went on to star on the field. After this success he accepted a scholarship to Wyoming. Allen went on to spend three years at Wyoming, quickly jumping up the projected NFL draft boards around the country.
After being selected by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft, Allen came into the league with high expectations. He took over the starting job early into his rookie year. In his rookie season with the Bills he led all quarterbacks with eight rushing touchdowns.
In his second year as a starter this past season, he led the Bills to their first 10-win season and just second playoff appearance since 1999. Josh was voted into the NFL Top 100 list this year by his fellow players, earning the 87th spot on the list.
During the 2020 NFL season, Allen quickly asserted himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. Setting a Bills single season franchise record for passing touchdowns, completions, passing yards and total touchdowns. He became the only player in NFL History with 4,000+ passing years, 30+ passing touchdowns and 8+ rushing touchdowns in a season. He was names a second-team All Pro and named to the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl. He led the Bills to win the AFC East Championship for the first time since 1995. The Bills went on to win their first two playoff games since 1995 before losing in the AFC Championship Game to the Kansas City Chiefs. Allen is a likely finalist for the 2020 NFL Most Valuable Player Award.
After Josh's grandmother Patricia Allen passed away unexpectedly in the days leading up to his 415-yard performance against the Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo fans or better known as "Bills Mafia" decided to take it upon themselves to honor their quarterbacks late grandmother. Fans began to donate $17 dollars at a time to the Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo, showing their support to Josh who wears the number 17. Quickly donations came storming in reaching more than $300,000 by the following week. On November 21st the hospital announced the "Patricia Allen Fund" and a rebranded "Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing", named after Josh's grandmother.
