Biography

Kyra Sedgwick is an award-winning actress, producer, and director. Her role in the smash hit series The Closer earned her both an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Film roles include Born On The Fourth Of July, Singles Phenomenon, The Game Plan, The Possession, and The Edge Of Seventeen. She recently starred in Kari Lizer's comedy Call Your Mother for ABC. Kyra is also notorious for her hilarious recurring role as Madeline Wuntch on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She recently starred in season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty opposite Elsie Fisher, a mystery comedy feature entitled Bad Shabbos opposite David Paymer and Method Man, and filmmaker Emily Abt's film Thirsty opposite Jamie Neumann.

As a filmmaker, Kyra was nominated for a DGA Award for her feature directorial debut, Story Of A Girl. Her short Girls Weekend, which was written by Ali Liebgott and stars Amy Landecker, premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Kyra has also directed episodes of Grace & Frankie, Into The Dark, City On A Hill, Ray Donovan, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and the upcoming HBOMax series Girls On The Bus.

Kyra's most recent film, Space Oddity, tells the story of Alex (Kyle Allen) who, after giving up on Earth and deciding to leave it all behind for a one-way mission to Mars, develops an unexpected romance with Daisy (Alexandra Shipp), the enigmatic town newcomer, which forces him to choose between an uncertain journey to the stars and an even more uncertain journey of the heart. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival where it was acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
