NBA Guard & NBA Players Association Vice President
Malcolm Brogdon is a guard for the Washington Wizards of the NBA and Vice President of the National Basketball Players Association. He was born on December 11, 1992, in Atlanta, GA. Malcolm attended Greater Atlanta Christian High School and was a standout recruit gathering offers from top universities across the nation. Brogdon went on to attend the University of Virginia where he was a consensus First-Team All-American. In his senior season, Malcolm was named the ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player to win both honors in the same season.
After completing his undergraduate degree and receiving a Master's in Public Policy from UVA, Malcolm was selected 36th overall in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. After a historic rookie season, he went on to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, becoming the first second-round pick in the NBA to win the award since 1965. In the 2018-2019 season, Malcolm joined the elite 50-40-90 club becoming only the eighth player to do so in NBA history.
Malcolm is an elite professional basketball player, yet his true passion stands for helping others. Named after the famed Malcolm X, Brogdon knew at a very young age he wanted to make an impact on people’s lives. His leadership comes as no surprise given his family history rich in advocacy, education, political leadership, and a tradition of service to others. Malcolm’s great-grandfather was a pastor and early civil rights advocate. During the 1960’s civil rights movement, Malcolm’s grandfather marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and was a civil rights leader in Waco, Texas and Seattle, Washington. Malcolm’s father, Mitchell is a lawyer and mediator; his mother, Jann Adams, is an associate VP at Morehouse College, an all-male, historically black college.
In the Summer of 2020, Malcolm launched The Brogdon Family Foundation. The Foundation exists to positively impact the lives of children, families, and communities globally through strategic investments in clean water infrastructure, education, and advocacy for the civil and human rights of all. He creates clean water wells and development services through his Hoops4Humanity initiative.
Even within the realm of basketball, Malcolm continues to dedicate his platform and media interviews to share his experiences and passions, partner with other committed allies, and support efforts that empower others to live their best lives.
